Texas Beyond History (TBH) works best on reasonably modern browsers (see below), a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels or higher, and browser text size set on medium. Here are the simple steps needed to optimize your computer for viewing Texas Beyond History and many other websites:
- Set screen resolution to 1024 x 768 pixels or higher. To set (or check) screen resolution on a Windows machine, go to the Start menu (lower left), select "Settings," select "Control Panel," select "Display" and open the "Settings" tab. This sounds more complicated than it is once you know how to do it. You can still view all of TBH with lower resolutions, you'll just have to scroll left-right and up-down more. Monitors that are 17" or larger are eye savers.
- Larger Images. Most of the small "thumbnail" images (photographs, maps, drawings) are linked to larger full-screen versions. Just click on the thumbnail image to see the larger version.
- Printing TBH Pages. Set your printer to landscape mode when printing out pages from TBH, otherwise the images and text on the right-hand side will be truncated. Sometimes setting your printer to "Fit-to-Page" printing will do the trick.
If you have problems viewing any part of TBH, please send us a quick note explaining the problem and noting which part of which page(s) you have trouble with.
Please note the latter part of the URL (the specific address for each page that appears in your browser's "address" window); all we need is the part of the address beyond ".net/" - e.g., www.texasbeyondhistory.net/kids/dinner/index.html and you can leave off the "index.html").
We may also need to know which browser version you are using (under "Help" and "About Internet Explorer" or "About Safari", etc. ), as well as the screen resolution (see above).
