Barrel hoops in the corral complex.

Scattered artifacts were found on or near the surface, in some instances by using a metal detector. These items became important evidence in the landscape analysis and interpretation of activity areas. In this photo, archeologist Rob Thift is next to three intact iron barrel hoops that were found in the corral complex area just north of Rock Wall F1. These three hoops are likely from the same large wooden barrel, and it was probably used to store water. The largest and most intact barrel hoops were all found in the corral complex.
