One artifact from the farmstead is a glass syringe fragment (a). The specimen is the proximal end of the plunger, and it is similar to the plungers on glass syringes advertised in the 1880 Whitall, Tatum & Company Catalog (b and c) of glasswares. Glass syringes would have been used to administer liquid medicines, but it is not known if this one was used for people or possibly for doctoring livestock.
