Artist’s depiction of a village scene at Firecracker Pueblo about A.D. 1450. The man on the left carries a basket full of recently harvested corn while the woman on the far right grinds dried corn to make cornmeal. Jornada Mogollon peoples in the western Trans-Pecos seem to have been much more reliant on agriculture than the La Juntan peoples in the eastern Trans-Pecos. Mural painting by George Nelson, the original is on display at the Institute of Texan Cultures.
