Hafted Dart Point Analysis: Specimen 1

Specimen 1 (46808-707) from Ceremonial Cave, AMS dated to ca. A.D. 20-220 (sample taken from sinew haft wrapping material). Based on CT scan of haft area, the chipped-stone point at the tip of the dart is classified as type Carlsbad. Polish is clearly visible on both sides of the point, the residue of unknown contact material. The wooden foreshaft has been sawed on proximal end (opposite the tip). TARL Collections.
